Viacom opens vault to Netflix 24 May, 2010

Looking through last week's releases on Netflix Watch Instantly, I think Netflix and Viacom came to a nice little deal. (Disclaimer: I was an intern at Viacom, but this isn’t shilling because I like most of these shows) Last week Netflix added over two hundred items to the Watch Instantly option. Three fourths of the new items were full series from the Viacom owned channels like: MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon. The ladder two channels make up most of the new content. I guess they read my earlier post asking companies to push all content to Netflix. While this is good for me in the short term, it could become costly if the only way to watch this content is through online services. For now though I'll gladly pay Netflix 16 dollars a month to stream all this TV since A) we don't have cable B)  we don't buy DVDs and C) We rarely go to movies since they literally cost that much per person in NYC. I’d never buy the DVDs of Hey Arnold, but I would like to go back through them now that I live in Brooklyn.
